During this practicum, I continue to research and ask questions of professionals regarding the subject of mental health.
The focus is on the main mission which is mental health awareness. What does that look like? Who are we targeting and how should we educate them?
An outreach through social media was started to begin to bring the childhood traumas to the forefront of the Vietnamese community's mind? Now what? This is the question the organization is asking itself and I have answered. We teach by using the website as a platform to help educate those who visit the site.
We begin by assessing what the person knows in regards to mental health and offering them immediate feedback on the question so that the learner can see the statistics or information on that topic.
The test assesses the learner's knowledge as well as offer the learner immediate feedback of information regarding mental health to help them to understand the importance of mental health for them and their youths.
The personalization of the training is in regards to what the learner is trying to research or access through our site. Not all mental health inquiries or health are the same. The learner can search for self care advise or signs of anxiety and how to cope it the anxiety and so on.
The difficulty of this task is the translation form English to Vietnamese because not all mental health vocabulary words have a Vietnamese equivalent word we can use. As a leader in powerful learning and leadership, I am searching for ways to meet this task as I continue this practicum.
This is true in any language I think, I know a lot term in Russian that do not exist in English and vice versa. It really does take a away a chunk of meaning from a conversation. And when you work on such important topic as mental health, time shade of meaning could make a huge difference.
